Our first ever pearl design Competition, in collaboration with The Guild of Jewellery Designers and Ping Ping Jewellery came to a close last week . The competition was designed to highlight the excellence in jewellery designing talent both in the UK and overseas. The competition was a huge success with so many excellent entries, many of whom are rising design students while others are experienced jewellery designers.
We are thrilled to announce that the winner is Yvonne Knights with her handmade 18 carat yellow gold organically shaped pendant, rub over set with the coin pearl and seven round cut brilliant diamonds.

Yvonne was thrilled to win the competition and she added;
“I particularly enjoyed entering the Pearl design competition, as it was an exciting challenge to design a beautiful piece of jewellery that was fitting for the size and the unique, organic shape of the coin pearl. I kept the design quite simple so as not to overpower the natural beauty and lustre of the pearl and to keep the pearl as the central focus of the design.
I also felt that an 18ct yellow gold finish would compliment the golden hue of the pearl to keep the look of the pendant as clean and simple as possible, whilst maintaining a soft organic feel
Yvonne will now enjoy making the pendant so she can add this to her portfolio. We look forward to seeing the finished piece.
